waterlogged august - issue 3 - seams

Seams

the open-hair threads of our lives
are coming undone. because we cannot
commit to one another. because we find
ways to find woe in the easiest of
moments. because we fight more than
we fight to listen. because small hands
unnerve us. because, in 2008, strength
sounds like empty bullet shells singing
against cement. because we are a society of
sacred mirrors but scared of sight. because
we force, push and gorge. because the small
seams of our lives remind us of promise. but
if at all, we are masters of stitching the
open-hair threads of our lives that are
coming undone.
